Default Selling outside of the UK...is it worth it for small sellers?

I am a newbie recently (although registered last year) moved from The Dark Side AKA Ebay. I have some auctions at the moment by way of "dipping my toe into the water" over here. At the moment I have left them all as UK sales only. Do you think I would have more of a chance of selling if I made my sales "international". I have only ever sold UK only on Ebay but I am thinking that offering internation sales over here might help me???

I will, if things improve, increase my selling status so that photos show etc etc but unwilling for the time being to do anything other than use the freebies allowed me at the moment until I am sure that this is the place to stick with.

Any input as to sales UK via international gratefully received.

I ask this as a lot of the responders on here do seem to be outside of the UK.

Thanks for your help you very helpful lot

Very early in my career in the other place someone ignored my setting of "UK only". I was too scared to tell him to get lost and have sold internationally ever since. It is worth it!

I have read most of your posts and I feel that I must point out that your selling plan is putting the cart before the horse.

Your selling levels are not very likely to improve unless you follow the advice already given on other threads,

Thumb Nail Pictures and a Buy It Now price are critical,. Along with exposure to both Google Generic Search, Plus Google Shopping.

I believe that there is very little point in expanding your sales to international destinations with out the above amendments.

But it is always worth a try.

I would suggest that you are selective when considering which countries to offer your items to.

Of course selling International will help - if your items are rare or worth the buyer paying the extra shipping.

There is some risk to you of course as regards some postal services.

But I would concentrate on getting your sales going in the UK first.

Some people sell on the first day (like I did) others take months to get going.

Thanks for the replies....to be honest with what I intend to sell the international postage will actually cost more than the item anyway. I sell nothing really that goes above £5.00. It was only a query as I really don't like selling internationally. I am going to have a read up on the advice I was given yesterday....unfortunately I have not had time yet as only 24 hours have passed. It is only a hobby to pass the time of an evening so if nothing sells....then hey ho. I will resort back to car boots and Facebook.

It never hurts to offer international shipping. In the last week I have sold to Australia and Slovakia. Even cheaper items can sell overseas, and I also find that I get some good multiple orders overseas, possibly in order to maximise shipping discounts and make purchases worthwhile.

Selling overseas is worthwhile. Most of my items are around the £5.00 mark and I had a Belgium buyer this weekend who bought two items to make the postage cost more reasonable.

The biggest thing is, here on Ebid, If you do not sell internationally, then it looks like you have nothing to sell. On other sites your items would still appear, here they don't

So yes, list internationally. Just make sure you put the postage fees high enough to include tracking and all should be well. Then it is up to the customer to decide

My overseas sales are mostly Australia, America, Germany, Holland, Italy and Sweden/Norway. If overseas buyers are willing to pay the p&p why not. you cant aford not to sell overseas.
I dont sell to worn torn countries
