Talking combined postage - methods please

I've checked ebid pages but I am still a little confused, I need to know a little more about combining postage, for example, can buyers request a total from me or is there an easier way to combine postage? What do people find works best?

    Moom.

Buyers can request a combined invoice via the ASL-After Sales Log-located at the top right of auction pages. Since you offer a variety of items, it might be difficult to set up auto combined postage-you can do this though, have a look at the q&a pages, and check out the 'How to' videos, they answer a myriad of questions!

    Hope this helps

Unhappy Re: combined postage - methods please

I think that invoice me for combined postage looks like I don't have the skill to work this out, even though the reality is that it is really complicated to set up.

There is no magic formula in the UK.
Two books at 250gm large letter could be:
    1. 250gm large letter
    2. 500gm large letter
    3. 250gm parcel
    4. 500gm parcel

I will just have to look like a fool

TBH Dr Bill I think 'invoice me for combined payment' would be appreciated by lot's of people, this allows you to weigh your items and give an accurate postal quote. I think most buyers understand that the post office made things way too complicated...I get lots of 'invoice me requests' at fleabay, well I did when it was selling okay!! I think the major stumble block is if people have the patience to wait for a reply.

    Re Combined invoices

Just get the buyer to let you know when they have finished shopping then sort out the postage etc for your combined invoice. Royal mail just make everything so difficult and i believe they are changing things yet again!

I've loaded 'shipping codes' on my products , having set up 6 different codes for 6 different product categories. I had thought (innocently) that this would result in automatic calculation of postage for multi-item orders. However, it looks like the software isn't this clever, and is only intended for multiple purchases of the SAME item, not a mix of items. Is this correct, or have I mis-read the option. If I only used one shipping code across all listings, would the system correctly set postage for multi-item orders? Anyone solved this one, please?
