Paypal and Google Checkout are not free so why do you expect to find a free one. Any alternative would be suitable as long as it was less expensive.

I'd say PPPay now they have sorted it out. Not free, but less than paypal.

Have they sorted it out? truly? This is a genuine question - I've not revisited PPPay since I ditched it some years ago.

We use cardsave on our three websites Cardsaves transaction fees are about a third of paypals you pay a £10 a month charge for processing via streamline But the fees you pay on top of that are very good for example

Oct my fees for cardsave are the £10 monthly charge and £9.28 on 25 sales so average 0.37p
Oct my fees for Paypal are £73.91 on 71 sales so average £1.04

During our peak summer months the diffence between the two was in the hundreds of pounds we used to use Paypal and google so the saving this year runs into the hundreds of pounds which in these hard times is a considerable sum to save

I believe it was set up by a business man who was fed up with extortionate transaction charges

Yes. Much better now that new users are required to use the verified by visa and mastercard securecode (or what ever that mastercard thing is called) if their card has the code on the back.

No waiting for Pppay to verify a new buyer.

Fees changed too, but still cheaper than standard paypal
