Default Nochex as a replacement for Google Checkout/wallet [UK only] ?

With the demise of Google's Checkout / Wallet, has anyone re-considered using Nochex.com in the U.K. as a possible replacement?

As in reponse to my tweet about Checkout closing, I've had a reply from Nochex asking to be considered !

Have they improved since this topic last came up?

I can't say if they have improved or not.

I used them when they first set up.

Then I had an e-mail telling me they were closing down.
They told me to withdraw any money I had with them.
    Which I did.

A year or so later, they set up again and again I signed up with them
Again they closed down BUT this time kept my money.
This second time, I had not warning to close my account and withdraw my money.

I went to Trading Standards, Banks, Etc etc only to be told, that Nochex was not a proper bank,
My solicitor told me, I would have to go thro a small claims court.
Which would cost me even more.

    So I lost my money.
I can not advise anyone to use them this third time.
I am sure someone will come on now and say they have never had any problems with them.

All I am giving you is what has happened to me, so you can make up your own mind.
Check out their history or ask Trading Standards or a solicitor or bank, before trusting your money with anyone.

When did they close down? nochex.com still appears to be active. And there's no mention of a recent closedown on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nochex

If you'd used the Small Claims Court and it was decided in your favour you could have had your court fee awarded, so if you're confident you have a good case this is an excellent route. And you don't need a solicitor, just a bit of common sense to state your case clearly and succintly -- it's not an intimidating big court hearing like a Hollywood film or Perry Mason.

In most cases, the court will not order solicitors’ costs to be paid by the losing party in a small claims case, and if you instruct a solicitor you will have to pay the costs yourself. For this reason most claimants deal with a small claim without the help of a solicitor.

Nochex is not a good alternative. They have limits.
Nochex Personal Account not more than £90 at any time
UK Trader Account £100 transaction limit
FREE Merchant Account Set-up Until 16 December 2013!! was £50 but you need to read terms and conditions-
which put me off and alot more i could not me bothered with.
    10.1.4 An inactivity charge at the rate of no more than £5.00 per quarter may be applied retrospectively in the event that the account receives no Transactions for a period greater than six consecutive months;
10.5 Under no circumstances is the Merchant Account to be used for the processing of payments associated with illegal activities or other activities which may be prohibited by the Acceptable Use Policy. Where the Merchant Account is closed for such reasons the Company reserves the right to apply a reasonable Account closure administration charge of up to £500.
11.2 The Contract, subject to earlier termination pursuant to Paragraph 11.3, will continue in force for a minimum period of 12 months and shall continue thereafter unless and until terminated by one party giving to the other not less than 30 days notice.

    1. Google Checkout no longer exists.

    2. Its down to the seller to amend their listings and remove Google Checkout as a payment method.

The rates, very difficult to find on the website, are 2.9% plus 20 pence

Not attractive enough for me to consider

Google "Wallet" is still viable, but only as an app for phone users, to my knowledge.
