    Default What are the Specifications for SKU Numbers?

    I want to start adding SKU numbers to all my listings.

    Presuming it's a simple text field (is it?), then I can use any letter or digit, Caps or not. If wrong please advise.

    How many chars are the maximum for a SKU?

    Can I include any of the following chars: hyphen, space, underscore, forward slash, backslash, period?

    Many thanks to anybody who knows!

    Let me turn it round: if I make some SKUs of around 8-10 chars, including the odd hyphen - will the Ebid software throw a wobbly?

    That link you advised is fine, but I need specifics which relate to Ebid.

    Thanks

    From FAQ page;

    "37) What is the SKU facility on the Listing Form?
    SKU stands for Stock Keeping Unit. It is basically just somewhere you can place a code or unique identifier for the item you are selling to help you recognise it. Larger sellers may wish to use this to help them pinpoint the exact item sold after an auction closes if they have many similar auctions with similar titles."

    I guess it's trial and error but given it is a unique identifier to you, you should be able to put anything you like in there.

    I haven't had a problem with a SKU being rejected, and I use letters, numbers and hyphens eg: SE245-46-13

    I use it to add date I first put listing up on eBid e.g. 6 December 2013 - had no problems with it so far.

    SKU is your inventory number, and you are free to make it what you want.

    Up to thirteen alpha numeric characters using 0-9-Z is good, though other characters are possible.

    Whatever helps you to identify your stock - could even be a truncated description.

    I use only six alphanumeric characters because it helps me to do sorts on stock.
