Thread: Are you one of the above?

Default Are you one of the above?

I've seen several forum posts about sellers who took their items off to put them up for a boot sale. Or offered them somewhere else and they sold, so they took the listing off here. Is this exceptionable? Nah I don't think so.

I thought when we did business here, it was proper. You keep the listing up until it is done. Then you can list it elsewhere. Not cancel it because you found somewhere to sell it!

I must say, I would never close all the listings, a shop at the time to make revising easier, yes. I have once done a garage sale and included some items listed here, but used the holiday notice as I wasn't around for a couple of days to deal with any communications.

The reason for listing something is because you want to sell it. Ideally, I would prefer to sell something on here but if it doesn't sell and another opportunity to sell it comes along then I would take it off and sell it elsewhere

I do handicrafts for the specific purpose of having a stall at the craft fairs, I only do 2 or 3 a year so the reason I list my hand made items here is in the hope I might sell something - I rarely do - but the opportunity to buy is here.

I am not a business, where's the harm?

I used to close all my listings when I sold silk scarves here and did a fair - then I'd reopen those I still had in stock. But I tried never to risk selling something that was already sold.

I really fail to understand what your problem is? If stock doesn't sell in a shop it would get moved elsewhere or removed from the shelves.

And nearly forgot to say that sometimes I take stuff to the charity shops too - so more closed listings from me.

Does this make me a bad ebidder?

IMHO Sales are where you find them.

Just try not to list the same item in two places at once.

I am quite happy to list items wherever they may make a sale and remove them from other venues when they sell.
I am in this as a business to make money. That's it. It makes no difference where it is offered for sale.
Just because I list an item on here does not mean that I am beholden to leave it here until the end of the universe if I can sell it somewhere else, I sell it.
What sort of weird logic would dictate otherwise?

As with others I buy items to sell them, so if I get the opportunity to make a sale elsewhere I will and remove the listing on eBid. But the money from the sale will allow me to get more stock to list on here, possibly different to the item sold and that can keep things fresher for buyers. Return visitors want to see something new and not the same listings every time they visit, so sales elsewhere can actually benefit eBid.
