i always fancied some goose but OH used to have 8 pet geese so wouldnt eat any. I didnt do much cooking. The venison was ready cooked and just needed so heating in the microwave and the garlic bread took 10 minutes in the oven. that was the extent of it. I dont cook often as i get too anxious and stressed so end up getting it all wrong. For solstice we had a ham but again it just needed heating through and dd did the frozen roasties and parsnips so not much work at all this year. Going to sil's for new years dinner with OH's family so again no cooking.
Used to do it all when the kids were wee but dont think i ever managed to pull it all off properly something was always burnt, undercooked or completely forgotten.

Since I was just a pup our family's Christmas dinner tradition had always been Goose. The Tradition continued until recently (a few years after my Mother passed) when it changed to Beef Tenderloin.

I enjoy both Tenderloin as well as Goose but Christmas so close to Thanksgiving when we always have Turkey (Poultry) the beef is a much welcomed main dish. Come end of January or mid February I will cook a Goose for a meal.

This years Tenderloin was tremendous. Sides were pretty simple. Baked potato, Sprouts, mushrooms and Asparagus.

Al! {{{hugs}}} I've missed you. Your beef looks fine. Last time i priced goose it was about £60 and would have fed us for a week. Pity you cant seem to get just the crown of the goose. Finally ate my profiteroles. they were yummy

A goose isn't just for Christmas...

… but goose fat is great on toast and its good for you. Low in cholesterol.
