    Question International shipping calulations?

Just had a sale to Italy, buyer stated he could not calculate shipping, I also could not get a calculation through eBid? Is this an eBid listing problem, or that I have a wrong setting? (I'm unalbe to see an international listing that I have.) I invoiced the buyer with correct postage due.

Hi I can't work it out either as it just keeps saying Free shipping on mine, I have sent them (HQ) an email to ask how to correct it in the system as I can't put in a set price as each order is different and who knows where it needs to be sent. I feel It shouldn't be set in the system.

Thought they had worked that out.........if "shipping cost unknown was selected, the system would default to "free shipping".

If you invoiced the buyer, why do they need to calculate shipping?

Problem is before they ask for an invoice. The calculator does not show postage cost. I know the system works, must be a setting I have wrong.

Check to see if you have all countries you will ship to ticked and make sure you have clicked calculate shipping and have put in your weight and and what type of package it is ( letter, large envelope or regular package ect.) Mine is working ok when i pull it up for my listing ......

I have a question though also for someone in the USA ...if you use large envelope as package type the package can only be up to 3/4 inches thick (from USPS description) if i send a ring in a jewelry ring box that makes the package over 3/4 " thick so then i have to go to regular package and that is many dollars higher...
I have been looking around and see some from the USA are only charging like 2.99 for large envelope with ring and box that is over the thickness for a large package to International countries.....what should i be using for package type to keep it legal but also cost down...if i do 4-5 ounces regular package the cost is about 12.75....is that correct from the USA??

    Thanks for Any Help

You are right to my knowledge on the shipping, a seller can charge whatever he wants for shipping from the customer, but when seller pays the postage at the post office buyer pays the going rate. It cost about $2.50 to ship 5 oz. domestic, I would question the 5 oz. international for $2.99.
    *********

Just came back from the post office, there is a thing called "first class international package", was told that a 5oz package to Great Brittan would cost $6.55, from Adams, WI.(must be under 4 pounds). Went to USPS site calculator, am unable to get or find how to get a price of $6.55.

Thank You so much RiverHill for the information ..yes i could not find 6.55 either i did find 5.45 but that is a large envelope and can not be more than 3/4 inches thick..anything over 3/4 inches in thickness then goes to package which is $12.75
