    Red face Bitcoins

I see that Bitcoins have recovered there value today. Is it about time that Internet auction sites and PayPal/PPPay accepted them as a currency?

Very definitely not. The exchange rate is extremely variable. They are not secured by any organisation, bank, country or whatever. They are associated with criminal activity. How many more reasons do you want? EBid should not be associated with such a dodgy "currency".

However, if you are sufficient foolish to accept Bitcoins, there is nothing to stop you from doing so, at least on eBid, which does not proscribe payment methods. You would need to make your own arrangments as eBid should not link this payment method.

Agree with the no. Far too volatile and there is a real chance a lot of people will get their fingers burnt.

As for auction sites it appears that eBay have filed a patent for virtual 'gift Tokens' that could be used online or in stores. Another way for Paypal to hang on to your money and make commission plus interest on it.

    CNNMoney

What was once the world's largest trading platform for bitcoins is now a blank page.
The Bitcoin-trading website Mt.Gox was taken offline late Monday, putting at risk millions of dollars put there by investors who gambled on the digital currency. The exchange also deleted all of its tweets, and Mt.Gox CEO Mark Karpeles resigned from the Bitcoin Foundation's board of directors on Sunday.

Probably won't last very long as they cannot be sold on eBid.

They are not the actual electronic Bitcoins, they are commemorative. Basically they are a made up coin version of a made up electronic currency.

The statement by deanosaur1972 was correct at that moment in time.

It would appear that the offending listing has now gone.
