Porthleven Harbour breached and vulnerable. Beesands, Torbay, Torcross, Dawlish, and one of my most favourite places, Slapton, which is extremely vulnerable having only a spit of land between it, the houses, the freshwater Ley and the sea.

A woman crying because she and her family are having to leave their home in Somerset and watch it go under the water. It's truly heartbreaking!

Edited to say: if anyone isn't familiar with Slapton, it's where Exercise Tiger took place in 1944.
I feel for those on the south west coast too Tiskets.

When I lived on the south coast - Hampshire/Dorset - the only bad weather I encountered was the drought in '76, the snow in January 83 I think it was and the hurricane of '87. Not one of those comes close to the inclement weather south west are having right now.

Here, in Cheshire, I'm encountering high winds and floods in places on the farmland where I walk Murphy so, the woman crying on the TV news really makes me think how lucky I am.

As is said all over the world, there's always someone worse off than you and I sincerely hope the Government get their AIG and get defences set up asap. Mind you, 'after the horse has bolted' comes to mind where the Government is concerned.

Absolutely agree with 'after the horse has bolted' Gill.

Whilst it won't help with the storms coming in from the sea, we in this area have been asking for rivers to be dredged for years. I am pleased to say they did a bit of clearing around here last year - getting rid of trees that had fallen from the banks but in other areas in close proximity, the rivers really need to be dredged so that the water can get away properly. That may stop some of the river water encroaching on the land.

So sorry to hear of all of the bad weather and its effects in the UK. Hope you all stay safe.

The weather here is odd, it's stuck in grey mode!

No rain, a high cloud base, a little breeze and 6°c temp.

Seems eerily calm compared to recent weather.

Still bad in the south west..

    Stay safe and warm everyone.

    Hi all.
My son finally got home just after 11 and went straight to bed, he was so tired.
He has gone to school this morning and I am so proud of him.

I saw the news and it is so sad for those who have lost so much. I love cornwall, devon, etc. Its so heart breaking.

    Take care everyone.

    Julie.

    Yes 11pm .

I know it was very late that's why I was so happy when he said he wanted to go to school.

After a dry start, chucking down again here. Terrible yesterday with gale force winds all day so rain lashing at the windows all last night.

Surprised at how busy we were at work yesterday [Tesco] Turns out many, many people had braved the journey down to us to stock up on dry goods in case they get cut off/roads get flooded, etc.

Many fields flooded - but these ones usually do when the River Severn rises. When will it all end? And then you read about the town in the Queensland outback that has had no rain for two years and everyone may have to move out.
