I live in Indiana Pennsylvania...that's about 60 miles east of Pittsburgh
About 350 miles west of New York City
Jimmy Stewart the actor grew up here before going to Hollywood..
It's 7 deg F now and we have a fireplace going, our hot water heating system is doing fine..Snowing and really blowing outside, made the house shake a bit before..
Our community is opening the doors of a few buildings for people who lose their heat or other difficulties.
I've been in the cold before, however I am thinking this may be the coldest time in my life..coming up.
I pity the people who work in the power plants, at these temps coal is a bit nasty to try to get into the boilers..

Upon rising this morning the temps were 26 deg F
Now at 3pm I read 18 deg F
Predicted tonight's temps are - (yes) minus 19 deg F

Headin your way JC, 40 below with wind chill here today. Roads are ice, doors are frozen shut! It's brutal!

It was minus 14*F at 7AM and all the way up to minus 4* at 2PM with strong wind and blowing snow.

OH has to take care of cattle and has come in a couple of times to thaw hands and feet. He is having quite a time keeping the cattle waters thawed!l

I'm able to stay in and get the shivers just thinking about going out.

oh.....stay in as much as you can, guys! That sort of temp is brutal, as you well know. I hope it clears quickly. One of my daughters in CO had their school cancelled, as the busses were having a hard time starting, and they didn't want to risk having any kids stuck outside at -16F.

Sounds horrible there Youmeus .....hope OH is ok. Sounds like you have it bad there....hope it gets milder soon for you. We are lucky at the moment in Wales. Have had terrific gales and lots of rain....and there are floods in many places, but it isn't that cold here at the moment...I think we have the worst weather to come.....keep warm and look after yourselves.

Here in North Georgia(USA) supposed to get to +7 tonight. The wind chill will make it feel more like -10. Yeow!
