Oh no. Not another Daily Mail story.

The Standard Life story is classic Daily Mail. Tell half a story and put a nightmare headline onto it.

Here's that actual statement from Standard Life: http://www.standardlife.com/utility/...atement-2.html - of interest is the extensive use of the word "could", rather than "will".

The BP one isn't entirely surprising. But what is interesting is Bob Dudley saying that the oil will run out in 35 years. But note what else he's saying in this context.

"BP has been in the UK North Sea for 50 years and we hope to operate here for many years to come. However, the province is now mature and I believe Sir Ian Wood correctly assesses its future potential."

Notice that he's specifically referring to the North Sea. It's generally accepted that the North Sea is on its way out, no one disputes that. But not all of the big finds that are coming up are in the North Sea. They're in an area known as The Atlantic Margin off the west coast. Some estimates suggest that there may be up to 100 years of oil production locked away in this area.

So as ever in this referendum, nothing is as clear as it seems.

Seems that calling it the Union Jack, or Union Flag makes no difference.
I beg to differ....but I am happy to accept that we have a difference of opinion.

I found this info interesting though The Union Jack or the Union Flag

Panic over everyone. The party leaders can go home again.

Latest poll from Survation: No 53%, Yes 47%. Unchanged from last time.

Knowing how gloating the headlines will be tomorrow, I actually feel a little bit depressed.

Please please vote 'YES' many of us don't want to have to go though all this again and if its a no, it will be a count down to the next one.... and the next one.... eg Ireland and Quebec!

By voting yes, all done and we can all settle into something new without the uncertainty of, when is the next referendum... :-)

No need to feel depressed PetBazaar. Only one opinion poll counts - the one that counts the actual votes cast.

Some Scottish people want independence come what may because they do not wish to be part of the UK at all.

Other Scottish people are going to vote for independence because they want Government that is more meaningful for Scotland and because they have had enough of their UK political voice getting lost amongst the much larger English political representation.

If there is a Yes vote, both groups will be happy.

If there is a No vote, the existing status quo is now on the way out and the new arrangements will see more direct Scottish control over Scottish affairs. So although maybe not the first choice for the two Yes groups, the new arrangements should be a big improvement on the current situation.

If there is a No vote, the extent of the debates that have been taking place in Scotland over the Referendum should mean that people take more ownership over Scottish politics in the future and will demand that the political system addresses a lot of the key Scottish issues that have got lost in the overall UK politics fog in the past.

If the Scottish people can take this ownership of their politics and maintain ongoing engagement with their politicians, it should be to the benefit of Scotland.

Whether Yes or No, Scotland will have gained from the Referendum debates.

A No vote this month will not mean an end to the Scottish Independence issue until the overall UK situation with respect to the EU is sorted out. It might or might not be back on the agenda quite soon.

Down south, the anti-European Union separatists in Essex will be getting their first Westminster MP in a few weeks’ time and there might be others to follow in the coming months. Politics in England are about to fracture in a serious way over the EU and the existing Westminster elite might be more accommodating towards further devolution to Scotland beyond that which has been promised over the last few days if only to keep Scotland on side whilst there is near political civil war in England over the EU. Alternatively, it might be necessary for Scotland to leave the UK if it still wants to be part of the EU. Either way, political crisis is likely to provide further opportunities to change the way that Scotland interacts with the rest of the UK for the best advantage of Scotland.

There's a surprise, estates where a high proportion of the population consider 'Benefit Claimant' to be a legitimate life occupation support the option that promises them more and easier access to benefits.

We still haven't heard from the (ex) captain of the "Bismarck". That might just swing it.
