Thread: Any one notice auctions are declinging going to BIN

  1. #1

Default Any one notice auctions are declinging going to BIN

Has anyone else noticed that actual auctions are declining with more items going BIN or fixed price.
It seems this is happening at all the auction sites. People have become compulsive buyers and not auction buyers.
Think I will have to go that route since no sales in months even with adding new items.
But still shipping seems to be the biggest issue. Costs have gone so high and are going to go higher in March here in Canada.
Will be doing a rethink on shipping methods and hope for the best.

When I started selling here I listed all my items as auctions. Later I added a BIN price. When I did so, almost all my sales were BIN. However, this week I have had two buyers who placed bids on my items thus going against the trend. By listing both auction and BIN, I am giving buyers a choice.

One reason for an increase in BIN listings might be that a BIN price is needed if items are to be uploaded onto Google Shopping.

Agree with the above; since many new buyers likely find me (and others) from an outside source (as Google) this would explain the BIN trend you've noticed. I've noticed it, too, and am glad of it, I've never been fond of auctions (YDCs are the exception), not because I mind the wait but because I usually get outbid at the last second, which I find extremely vexing.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

    Now I've found the opposite.
My bin's are not moving but my auctions have taken off.
At one time I could not auction anything at all, and everyone wanted it today.
Just has three auctions finish and I got very good prices indeed on them.

    Mine are about 50/50
I suppose it depends on how much higher than auction is BIN.
Most of my BIN are 25% higher than starting auction.

This trend has been happening for years.

It all depends on what you are selling.

But in todays world it is an anachronism to call these sites "Auction sites" and then call listings "Auctions"

If you think auctions are so important then ebid should be doing very well as it does do auctions.

eBid's inappropriate use of the word 'Auction' has always bugged me. They have made efforts in recent times to use the word 'Listing' where it should be. There are still places on the site where it has not been corrected though.

The site is called e bid.

Just have to relax into a method of selling that suits. For me, eBay doesn't work.

Prices vary greatly for same items and if selling there's the risk of loss using an auction type listing.

The costs are high and both eBay and PayPal can be patronising to the seller.

But that's just cold business. eBid could well become a rival. But we'll have to keep both buyers and sellers happy and provide a good service.

eBid suits me as I place to list items I have no use for and I may possibly find some stuff to auction off. But without the public traffic the starting price will probably be quite high just in case!

I'm in no rush aka lazy

    Hi All:
I'm new to forums but not Ebid,so probably in the wrong category.Have a buyer that bid on an item and would like to change
to BIN.Have asked Ebid supports help but they say cannot be changed,Does anyone know why,or an acceptable way to do this.
I have tried ending auction and will not end,I'm sure because it has a bid.Any help will be appreciated.

If it is the only bIdder you can remove the bid, which should then allow you to edit the listing

    See: http://mootango.webspace.virginmedia...idkb.htm#a0024

If there is more than one bIdder then you shouldn't really curtail the auction.
