Googled Ebid and was amazed

Isn't the name Ebid copyrighted and if so ebid should hire attorneys to sue all business using the name. The monies could be used for TV ads and Press releases to draw attention to the name EBID. Just a thought.

I think I saw an old store near Oakland, East Bay CA called Ebay ...

I am not sure what the situation would be able to copyright the name; as someone else legally holds the .com domain and refuses to sell. From what I have read the .com was up and running before this website came into existence; so I am sure there would be fisticuffs there.

Another couple of examples of "other" uses of "copying" occurred in Birmingham where we had the sadly missed Last Chance Cafe. The owner had been running for sometime before the golden arches invaded England (or at least the West Midlands). But that did not stop Micky D's taking the owner to court from selling "Big Mick Burgers" which he had for many years. They lost and Mick carried on. Also there is a 24/7 named Safeburys who were dragged unsuccessfully through the court by another supermarket.

eBid.com expires on 30th November 2022 maybe the guys could buy it then before it gets re-registered, then they could link eBid.com to eBid.net, after all the guys own eBid.co.uk which is directed to eBid.net

On another note I found another eBid

So it will be quite difficult to register eBid as a copywrite

It will be re-registered by the current owner unless he drops his current excessive demands for selling it. Hopefully he will get to the stage where he will sell it to eBid at a reasonable price long before 2022.

The site could register a trademark : eBid.net (TM) along with the purple logo. This needs to be done ASAP; and they should not wait for the dot com to decide to sell out or run out.

I think eBid had a trademark done for the old red logo.

It is too late to do a trademark for only "eBid" as it is widely used now.

They could also make a corporate decision to change their name; and start the branding process from scratch.

Copyright is for literature and music.
Just writing something new and publishing it means that you have the copyright for it.

Ebid is more likely to come under Trademark rules.
