    Default Jubaland

I know this stamp is from Jubaland 1926.
West of the Djuba river, part of Kenya until 1925, then integrated into Somaliland late in1926.

My question is what is the best category code in which to place it.
    Kenya? Italy? Somaliland?

At the present, I only have to access information from the Scott Catalog.

The stamp in question is listed under OLTRE GIUBA, aka Italian Jubaland. Oltre Giuba is listed as a dead country.

It was ceded to Italy by Great Britain in 1924, and in 1926 was incorporated with Italian Somaliland. In 1936 it became part of Italian East Africa.

Now, I checked other sites to see where it was categorized - on eBay it was in the Italy & Area category; BidStart had it in the Italian Colonies category, DelCampe had stamps in both Italy and Somalia categories. However, it should be noted that many of the stamps in eBay and BidStart were overprints, and not as yours.

So ... it would seem that to be correct, eBid should have a "Dead Countries" category. I doubt that will happen anytime soon. Further there is not a category for Italy & Colonies.

I am torn between "Africa>Other" or "Somaliland". Your choice -

You could list the stamp as "Oltre Giuba, Peace Substituting Spade for Sword Stamp" in either category.

After some thought, I would place the stamp in "Africa-Other" as another correct placement would be Italian Somaliland (another dead country), which does not exist in the categories.

I would not class somaliland as a dead country, as it still exists although it is not recognised by most countries.

    Do you have any suggestions?

Bill just a bit off topic, but you are likely to read this as are a few other stamp sellers.

I would strongly advise you to remove the paypal option of payment on your Iran stamps asap.

    See thread:

(As for the stamp category - probably fits legitimately into a few and it wouldn't really matter which one, someone who wants a Jubaland stamp is just going to do a keyword search Jubaland Stamp.)

I asked Paypal UK and they said it is news to them. Send the source to them so they can check whether it is spoof.

Well it is your choice - but UK sellers have been having problems - it has been all over various forums with sellers giving first hand accounts of losing access to their paypal accounts.

Yes the US government has an embargo on sales from some countries.
Paypal.com try to comply with this by blacklisting words from titles. This is crude to say the least because the embargo is not retrospective and so stamps dated before the embargo should not be affected in US, but are.
It seems clear to most that the US embargo is not legally enforceable in Europe, but no-one has stood up to stop the intimidating power of Paypal.co.uk when they occasionally step in to freeze accounts.

As an observation on how well Paypal.co.uk are policing their blacklisting policy in UK, there are at the moment on Ebay:
Cuba in the title 32000 items
Iran in the title 12000 items
Sudan in the title 6000 items
North Korea in the title 4000 items.
