Default At least eBid don't take a percentage from the postage!!

Everyone wants low or even free shipping, self included! Guess what? It’s there and can’t be avoided. If it’s free shipping U know it’s included in the actual cost.
I digress, for those who don’t sell on eBay there is a little bit of info U may not be aware of. eBay is ever reminding sellers about high shipping charges, however, both eBay and PayPal in their infinite business wisdom continue to rake in their percentage from the shipping charge.

Not content with listing fees, final value fees (when the item sells) and PP fees, they take a percentage of the shipping fees.

I remember the old days when selling on eBay was quite enjoyable, now, one logs on there with trepidation.

It wasn't really that much of a surprise when they introduced the shipping fee charge. When there were many dozens of sellers trying to avoid paying the regular fees by selling for a low price but with a huge shipping charge, it was bound to happen. Plus, of course, Feebay are just plain greedy.

I hear ya, I used to be a regular on eBay back in the late 90s, but haven't been on there in years and the more I hear the more it appears I'm not missing too much.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

They should take the shipping charges out of the DSR system.

I get marked down even though I ship at cost with no charge for packing materials etc.

I think DSRs are history anyway (not that it affects me)...

My feeling is that they took a look at shipping charges....took a deep breath....saw the writing on the wall and realised that the only level for future growth was , shipping costs and this is a way of clawing back the financial decline.
anyway....we don;'t have to get hung up on hiding our shipping costs over here...instead we can openly display them without fear of punishment. "free" postage you say?......this is stealth postage gouging like it or not and has proven to be a major barrier to making multiple sales....i mean, buyers aren't stupid, they know that if they buy more than one item within a single transaction they're being overcharged (usually).

Pink, they are doing away with the DSR system. The new rating system is suppose to help the seller more, we will see if it does.

That's what they say about every change; "It's for your benefit", but it never is. It is always for eBay's benefit. Amazingly there are still some that believe them.

Yep that is why I said we will see if it does lol, I don't believe what any site owner says they are doing til it actually happens & even then it is like you said they only do it because it benefits them. That goes for any auction site.

I left E-Bay after 10 years of being ripped off by what can only be called Corporate greed. PP take 3.4% of the final sale cost PLUS 20p for every transaction. So some poor soul selling something at 99p to get rid of it pay E-Bay 10p, plus the pay pal fees of 21p.
