    Default Sport Relief et al

Just watching bits of sport relief on the box, mainly for the comedy sketches.
Every now & again a 'celebrity' comes up with a story of someone that needs the money & appealing to the general public to donate.
Now,correct me if I'm wrong but,if the title of this 'appeal' is sport relief, shouldn't the overpaid sport celebrities be making the donations rather than the general public? Ditto, comic relief etc.

Apparently giving their time is enough. But earlier today I was reading about a handful of football players who are putting £50 million into a property venture so maybe they could give a little bit more than time.

Coldplay are donating £260,000 (though they're not sportsmen).

Sport Relief is a biennial charity event from Comic Relief, in association with BBC Sport, which brings together the worlds of sport and entertainment to raise money to help vulnerable people in both the UK and the world's poorest countries. At the heart of the campaign is the "Sport Relief Mile", which involves members of the public doing their bit for charity.
Comic Relief teamed up with the newly established Sport Relief initiative in 2002 and alternates with Sport Relief, airing every second year in March.

There are 20 teams in the Premiership. If 25 from each team gave £1,000 which is loose change for them then that would be £5 million.

I am sure that some of them do give to charity, but the money they receive is now bordering on the obscene, Rooney on £300.000 a week, and maybe doubling that with his commercial activities. It would be nice to see them give something back.
