She won't be gone for long; she'll slither back in as soon at they think they can get away with it (as happened after the 2009 scandal). In the meantime she will still have her snout in the trough - and gets to keep the money she has already snaffled.

I'm not interested in which party she belongs to, they are all as bad as each other and hold the electorate in total contempt. Miller's whole attitude was 'How dare you peasants question my actions'.

Did the press have it in for her? Quite likely, but she gave them the ammunition to use against her. If she had been honest (or honourable once found out) then there would have been no story.

Interesting that those in the party most vocal in support of her were themselves already tainted by the 2009 expenses scandal. Thieves defending a thief?

I have only one comment on Maria Miller - a soldier (or sailor or airman) who overclaims is SACKED!

That's the whole problem, they can't be sacked. They are self perpetuating.

The biggest problems seem to be around the 'second home' issue and the ability to 'flip' back and forth for personal gain.

And if Maria Miller is entitled to £40k of taxpayers' money, where is my share?

You, like the rest of us, are a 'pleb' and should be honoured to help pay for her and her family's lifestyle - not expect anything similar for yourself and yours.

According to her website she has yet to resign from her cabinet post.

This is a scandal. Mrs Miller lives three doors down from me, is in her eighties and not in good health. The Conservatives should resign for themselves and not expect an old lady to do this for them.

mrs miller is donating the £17,000 pay-off she is entitled to on leaving the cabinet to charity.
Sorry... but why is she, or any MP, entitled to this? Just how many different kinds of trough are there for MPs to get their snouts into?

But the prime minister acknowledged the row showed public feeling about MPs' expenses was still "raw" and "needed to be acted on".
Translated to English: I would have thought those stupid plebs would have forgotten all about that by now, and that their little brains be now filled with the likes of X-Factor, Strictly Come Dancing, and the goings on in The Eastenders [sic].
