It was -18 Celsius this morning and has warmed up to -14 C now. Spent an hour and 3/4 (4800 steps on my fitbit) shoveling 15 cm of snow and not done yet, still have not touched the back yard. Just came in for lunch and a break. It was still snowing when I came in so I most likely have to do it all over again.

Yes, it is cold outside. I haven't had to shovel snow for a couple of days though. Husband is still recovering from surgery and he's under strict orders not to lift or do too much bending, so I'm on snow detail. Our snow blower is a big John Deere one and I think I need to learn to use it. Fortunately for me, we have neighbours with blowers who help me out if I need it while husband is recovering.

This picture is from our front door, after I did the shovel work. Some winters we have had a lot more snow than this.

And this is through the patio doors out on to our deck. Chickadees everywhere. We also have a pair of white breasted nuthatches that stop by for lunch too. The chickadees are so fast that they are hard to photograph.

Rather blustery and chucking it down thanks to Storm Brendan.

We had to go to Edmonton yesterday for husband's post op appointment, which we didn't want to miss. Hard to reschedule with a busy surgeon.

This is what the weather was like on our way out the door. It's supposed to warm up after the weekend.

I stayed in Sangudo not far from you when I was on my Rockies road trip back in the early 1980s.

I was introduced to muskeg on one of the backroads too !

Yes, winds and rain from Ciara are amazing - but I'd rather have rain than all that snow! Brrrrr........green. Maybe you should change your name to Whitegold.

Sangudo is about 60km away. There isn't much there. I can't imagine that there was much here in Whitecourt 35 years ago either. We only have about 10,000 people here now. You must have travelled the back roads and into the bush to learn about muskeg?
