Had a narrow escape at the Post Office yesterday:
Outside is a pull-in which takes two vehicles (it used to be bigger, but the Council shortened it to bring us into the 21st Century (?? don't ask). So people now park on the pavement while they use the P.O. As I did.
When I came out, I found a traffic warden just getting his gizmo out. I asked if he was going to book me, and he said "I will, if you don't shift this car sharpish". Well, we got chatting, and out of the corner of my eye I could see people coming out of buildings, jumping into illegally-parked cars and driving off.
After a few minutes of discussing our mutual loathing for silly parking restrictions, the warden and I parted - the best of pals.
By now, the street was completely empty of cars. Deserted.
I expect my reward will be in Heaven.
