Snapagogo images being altered

Hi, I have been uploading images to snapagogo and am having problems. Some are uploading as they should, but others are displayed with the bottom part showing as a grey area.

The originals are intact before upload, the gray appears after they have been loaded. I am using the shrink to 600 pixels option.

This is happening sporadically with no noticeable pattern. Can anyone advise as to a possible cause / cure please?

Is the original on Snapagogo still OK? Sometimes images degrade after saving.

I occasionally used to have a problem with uploaded images greying out at the bottom, usually something to do with the domain not accepting information as fast as it is being sent (I am advised).

The original is stored on my laptop not Snapagogo, Bill. However my puter is slow in responding at the moment when loading sites; so that could be an answer.

If you are using Snapagogo to resize the images (never used it), It could be an error in the site's routine.

Are all your images of the same type (e.g. JPG)?

Yes Mel, they are all jpeg, scanned on the same printer, but at different times. Have just thought of a way to test if it is my printer at fault, will try scan from another printer.

The mystery continues: I did a scan of one of the affected books on another printer, emailed it to myself then passed it through the snapagogo resizer with no problems. Immediately after that I re-loaded the original scan from my computer and once again the grey area was there.
This suggests to me that the problem may be in my printer / computer set up.

I expect that your computer is corrupting the images when it saves them, or shortly afterwards.
Is there an alternative location for saving your images?
If that works then it shows where the problem lies

Thanks for that Bill, I will have to have a think about how to go abut that. The only computer I have access to is my laptop, although potentially I could slip in a scan at work and hide it. The only greay area (no pun) is loading it to snapagogo - the works security settings are a little wierd; it is okay to look up al sorts of things but then you get a block for something you would not expect.

I'm confused.

You have a laptop where the original is filed but your computer is slow to load - the only computer you have access to.
You have access to 2 printers as you tried a scan from another printer.
You reload the original scan from you computer, which is causing problems you mentioned in #1??? Why didn't you upload the new scan?

Try resizing one or two before you upload them, & see if you still have a problem.

If all is fine,
then use something to do a batch resize, on all your images, there are plenty of free programs
out there that will do this Irfanview for instance
