Default Some ideas for ebid - No 7 - Show the bids

Continuing on my series of suggestions for ebid to increase sales and members etc.

Number 7 - Show Auction Bids.

Ebid is one of the few alternate "auction / online market place sites" that offers auctions as well as buy now.

The top 3 alt sites only do Buy Now, and so does number 5. (assuming my ranking are correct)

Many of us know that ebid did show the auction bids for a while (before my time) but withdrew the feature as they did not think that it was helping. So the code is there.

But most of us would agree that seeing auction bids is an integral part of an auction.

Imagine going to a real life auction and everyone standing in the room and then the auctioneer says the Ming Vase has been sold.

It would add some life to the site.

My suggestion is to give it trial for say 6 months.
And for ebid to tell us the auction sales before the trial starts and at the end of the six months.

I can't see how it would put anyone off listing an auction on ebid, as there is no activity shown now.

(I know this has been suggested many times, but it belongs in my series) (And I know I will get one supporter)

Would love to see a bid column on my listings. Would also like to see listings with bids shown in a section of the home page, with popular auctions, and sold items. I just want to see the bids, all over the place.

Point is NOTHING here will work till they Show Bids to folks who scroll the sub-cats.. has to be done in a 6 Month time-frame(getting the word out) will bring big players... but no-one listens, owners should not just take the signup fees and be glad

One that I can agree with at last !
I would still like the bid column brought back for a trial period. There must be enough business here now to make it worthwhile trying again.

    I agree with you Julie,
They have a bid column but you have to view the listing to see it. They need to have the bid column show on the search pages.

I am a fan of a bid column.

    We have to ask...

Would a bid column show enough bids to create auction action? If so someone please explain how?

Would a bid column show very few bids and indicate either lack of interest in the site or lack of interest nowadays in auctions?

Back in the day when auctions were popular and the term $.99 no reserve auctions would generate interest, did it generate interest here also or just elsewhere?

Can auctions generate interest anywhere anymore?

Is Buy it Now / MAO the only way of the future or is there still an interest in auctions?

I was discussing this with my Daughter last night, i said bids used to be shown, years ago, she thought it rather stupid that they're no longer shown.

My auctions, good prices, fair p&p.
