Sorry Julie but...
I have to totally agree on this one.

The fact that Google insist on Buy Now prices for auctions/listings to be uploaded to their search engines could have something to do with the decline of bidding wars. On eBid, if you are hoping for a bidding war, you have to offer a start price (for bidding) plus a Buy Now price (for Google upload).
It won't surprise me when Google move the posts again and insist on not having start bid prices on anything any more and just have Buy Now prices.
You all may find this funny, the darkside shows this message when you are listing a fixed price item. We recommend you list this as an auction. Buyers are almost twice as likely to purchase your item when you list it as an auction.
I used to list items only as auctions when I started listing on eBid and got a few sales. Sometimes complications arose with buyers when auctions finished on different days. When Google demanded a BIN price I added this to all my listings and continued the practice with new listings. Since a BIN price has been included almost all my sales have been BIN despite the auction price being less (of necessity). My experience seems to indicate buyers (or my buyers at least) prefer BIN. Perhaps they don't want to wait. Perhaps they don't like the uncertainty of auctions. I don't know.
