Is this really a good way to go? I think it makes the "shelves" look even emptier (More empty more emptierer)

The categories are confusing and cumbersome why not focus on something else???????
This site could run just fine with about half the categories, yet everyday there are requests for more!!!!!!!!!
I think the writing is on the wall for me...... I am disappointed with my experience here on ebid.
Astral, you are such a diplomat.
Bringinitback4less, I had not thought of your point of view. Actually I think that the number of listings do need to increase, and that is the responsibility of each active seller here. I need to personally get with it in listing more. However, as far as categories being decreased I would not like to see that happen.
If eBid sellers focused attention on those empty categories, and targeted their listings in those directions, the site would benefit. I must admit, I do not do this. I list in my areas of interest and comfort; those areas of interest seem to be similar to other sellers. I have so much available stuff that I could list, if I would list.
So maybe it will take a bit of looking inward for the sellers who are currently active. Are we really doing as much as we should or could? The other side of the equation is motivation to do more. Sales motivate sellers. Is the eBid platform conducive to healthy sales for a broad base of its sellers? Many think not; but there are sellers here that are doing well. So it can be done. If only this success in sales volume were spread across a broader base of sellers. Anyone who figures out the solution to that issue would probably become a millionaire.
There is an area which does eBid no favours: The number of "stores" with zero listings.
If you check "Collectables", you will find there are 71 sub-categories. 22 of them (30%) show zero content.
With "Spritiuality and metaphysical" it is 14 empty stores from a total of 25 (56%).
Most categories of store have a quota of emptiness, though some have only a few.
How ever many empty stores there are, it does nbot give an impression of this site. We've all seen those streets with half the shops empty or boarded-up. Do we chose to shop in them?
Would it be a good idea for eBid to automatically delete categories as soon as the number of stores in them drop below 1?
They could easiuly be resurrected, if a new store was opened.
