    It could indeed be a very good year for them.

    Usually I manage to get one echium flower/plant growing every other year - they are bee magnets, 20 to 30 at a time. This year I have SIX of the giants, currently at around 11ft tall and at the current rate of growth should be over 14ft next month. Just starting to come into flower now.

    We had a hive of honey bees in our old farm house loft for many many years.
    Each year they would swarm, and it was lovely to see some of them move on, to start up a new hive.
    They never caused us any problems at all.
