    Default Plum shaped plums

My victoria plum tree has finally produced after the previous one died from squirrels stripping the bark.

I hadn't realised how much I missed plum shaped plums.

I have had a wonderful few days gorging on plums from the new tree.

The plums in the shops all seem to be tomato shaped these days.

So what shape do we call plum tomatoes if plums are shaped like tomatoes?

I don't know why they have to mess with nature so. I totally agree with you Bill. Any of those delic' pluums left? Im coming over to yours! I know what other delights you could conjur up with them after you've savoured a few. Plum wine, plum jam, plum plum plum on! Your recipes never fail, any new books of yours coming out?

The very last of the plums will be gathered today when the rain stops.

They are far too good for wine, and my jam days are over thanks to diabetes.

Maybe 4Kg out there but my guess is that they will be eaten before the end of the weekend especially if the locusts (sorry, children) pop in.

Next are the apricots and then there are half a dozen nectarines on a young tree...

You have a nectarine tree too? Im definitely coming over, one of my favourite fruits. All to Bills for a fruitfest! (Well maybe not ALL, as we don't want another locust invasion haha)
Funnily enough I've just been at a friends near Leek, Staffs, helping out with work on her property and I am always the cook too. I noticed gooseberry bushes were doing very well this year and got 3 harvests just whilst I was there (with still more to come!) I made various gooseberry stuff, the usual crumble and fool, plus a sorbet, some jam and was even thinking how nice gooseberry wine might be, something else I definitely want to have a go at some time.
This is the 2nd batch of unpicked undiscovered bushes I've found in these last few months laden with gooseberries. Is it a particularly good year this year?
I was also doing some filming recently in Monmouth and whilst staying at a friends found the other bushes tucked away round the back where nature has somewhat taken over you may say. Also some lovely rosemary and mint plants of various types my friend was unaware of. We had a good meal out of some of the fare!
