Thread: Setting up Bank Transfer Payment Option

Smile Setting up Bank Transfer Payment Option

    Hi there :-)

I currently only have PayPal as the only payment option in my store.
I would like to add another option such as bank transfer, I am not sure
how to do this, can someone please direct me on how to do this.
Also, is there anyway I can setup an option to automatically provide
my customers with an invoice so they can pay using their credit card.

I appreciate your time and look forward to your reply.

    Kind Regards,
    Debra Fitzgerald

When making a new listing - whether online or with the Ninja Lister, you get the option of ticking the Bank Transfer Box under the payments tab. You can also mention it in your listing that you take Bank Transfer.

Then, when you send your invoice to your successful buyer, you give your bank details - Sort Code, account number and name - so that they can pay you that way if they so wish. That's how I do it.

I offer a 5% discount in my main store for anyone wishing to pay by bank transfer....saves on the paypal fees so it's a win, win situation. The text is embedded in all of my listings.

I've used it many, many times but I wait until a customer asks to pay that way.

Word of caution: Don't use your current account! I keep a savings account (with only £1 or so in it) just for payments by bank transfer. Standing orders & direct debits can't be set up on such accounts....should your bank details happen to fall into the "wrong hands".

I would check with your bank what they would charge to accept and convert a bank transfer in another currency. In the United Kingdom, this is expensive and often is greater than the amount of the transaction. Bank transfers in your own country should be free or almost. Again I would check with your bank.
I don't know if Skrill is available in Australia but it might be worth a look.

Just realised that OP is in Australia - so why not look at TransferWise.com. We use it to send money to our son in WA with no problem.

Otherwise, it would have to be Skrill (ex-Moneybookers).

How sensible to use an auxiliary account. I haven't being doing that.

The number using BACS is increasing for me. Strictly sterling transactions though, cost of converting euro or dollar more than the value of the transaction!
