Thread: Royal Mail dropping prices for Christmas

  1. #1

Default Royal Mail dropping prices for Christmas

Some good news for once from Royal Mail. From October 20th to January 18th they are increasing the size of a Small Parcel to 45cm x 35cm x 16cm for this period. That will mean some parcels that currently class as a Medium Parcel now being a Small Parcel, and would save up to £5.70 on a First Class delivery over 2kg.

The new size is good news. I have to laugh though about the special Christmas promotion. Obviously they must have lost a lot of money to the courier companies last Christmas which serves them right for making such ridiculous changes in the first place !

Hopefully they will get an increase in business that will convince them that they should keep the new sizes.

The size will be permanent, it's the special offer on the price ( 2kg for the price of 1kg) that ends on the 18th January.

The increased size of a 'small parcel' - currently 45cm x 35cm x 16cm - is permanent and will remain in place after the January 18 deadline, but the maximum weight limit will return to one kilo or under.

Sounds like good news to me, I recently posted out two orders consisting of two of the same size boxes (not ebid sales) if I'd stacked the two boxes together they would have been classed as Medium Parcel so I placed them side by side and they went as Small Parcel, ridiculous!

Does the drop in price and increase in size apply to parcels to Europe?

Thanks for the info. Pity it doesn't include Europe.

As far as I know they don't do small and medium sizes to Europe. It's just one price by weight for airmail and extra if you want it tracked and signed for.
