Default Learning to get around and looking for that 1st sell

Hi, Even though I joined ebid in 2008 I am just now able to start selling on here. I have done a lot of reading and will be doing a lot more on ebid knowledge base. I would like to say thank you to those who complied all the helpful information there. That shows there are a lot of kind and helpful people here. Still have a lot to learn and hope to make many new friends.

An I am still waiting for that first sell. I have quite a few people viewing my items but no takers. In general how long does it take to make a sell.

    Good luck selling to all

It took me 2 or 3 weeks for my first sale

    All my buyers were new to ebid ie there first buy was through me, ( apart from one}

some people only take a few days for the first sale some might wait months, its really down to what you list and how you list it.

most of my buyers came via google shopping, with a few via word of mouth.

Thank you. I am still learning how things work. I still have a lot of items to list. I have never really used to social media such as Facebook or twitter. I do have a Facebook account but only use if to find used furniture. And I have never used Google. So just how do I find my items on Google.

To find your items on google go to google shopping .com it may be called some thing different in your country, your items may show up on a generic google search,

your items to appear on shopping via ebid will need a bar code for the item placed in the box on the listing form, or if you dont have a bar code you must place exempt in the exempt box on the listing form, i think you would need a min price as well , some one from your country could advise better on that one,

Some of the views were mine yesterday. You have some nice things and very good photo's and I pinned one of your items to my pinterest page.
I did find your shipping terms rather off putting and not very customer friendly, dont know what others think about that. I think you could easily add $1 handling charge on to the shipping cost but dont make a point of telling customers that you have.

I like your About Me page, very professional and informative, though I agree with Zaran that mention of a handling charge isn't strictly necessary.

Do you use social media? Many use it to advertise their items for sale. You can also use Plug Your Auctions on the forums, (1x per 24 hours, delete old plug before starting a new one). Also, if you sell on other sites you may want to let your customers from other sites know you're selling here.

Good luck and best wishes for many sales to all,

Thanks to both of you. I have changed my shipping terms and left off the information about the handling charge and fees owed by International buyers for customs. This is the only place I am selling right . It has been a number of years since I sold anything online.

As for social media I have never had to time to use it. And I have always enjoyed talking to someone face to face. I do view pinterest and facebook but have always used it just to looked for furniture to redo. If it helps that much in selling I guess I will have to learn to use it.

    Thank you for helping

You're most welcome. I'm not sure how helpful social media is sales-wise, but I've noticed whenever I tweet an item it does bring in viewers and IMHO every viewer is a potential customer, so, as they used to say about the NY lottery: hey, you never know...

Best wishes for many sales to all,
