Thread: Another Registration problem

  1. #1

    Default Another Registration problem

A potential customer telephoned me tonight asking why his name had a line through it on Ebid and he could not log in after earlier in the day asking me a couple of questions from the site.

Of course, I have no idea what is going on. i have no more info on his login name etc but it is not the first time this has happened and it is extremely annoying....as he said...."after being locked out of the site, he cannot be bothered re-registering."

Are other sellers experiencing similar problems? These potential buyers always seem to ask me what is happening and of course, I really do not know what to tell them.

This usually happens if the person has made a mistake with their email address and the email eBid sends is bounced back to them. Another reason is a mistake with the postcode (zip code). I had a buyer once that was working on an oil rig in the north sea so his IP address was from Norway which of course didn't match his postcode in England ! You need to get your buyer to contact support@ebid.net and they will soon sort it out.

I admit this is annoying and some of it could be avoided if eBid provided a second 'confirm the email' address box on the registration form like some other sites do which would throw up an error message if the first email address is wrong.

Yes, unless the newbie repeated the error for a second time. It does happen. I've even done it myself.

Or does what I often do.... Copy and Paste from the first box into the second.

Yes there is that but I don't usually do that with email confirmation in case I have got it wrong the first time. So if there are others out there like me it could make a small dent in the problem. Keeping a few more buyers in this situation is better than none !

I wasn't voting the idea down, just pointing out that with lazy gits (like me) it is not guaranteed to be 100% solution.

Unfortunately, he made it quite clear to me he cannot be bothered with Ebid after this happened
