Thread: Ebid website advertising

  1. #1

    Default Ebid website advertising

    Hello Ebid guvnors,,

    Ive read your post about advertising on National Tv named ;
Why does eBid not run major advertising campaigns to attract new members?

and yes it sounds like a lot of money for a 30 second advert so there are many more options available< i bet the bay didn't start off at the beginning with a massive lay out and a gamble, they must have built their advertising up within their means as they went along, that makes good business sense,

So have you thought about adverting on the buses both or either london and national, also London black cabs do advertising these days, bill boards , bus stops, even a man or 3 driving around the country with a van and a big board attached to it plastering eBid all over it, driving around the major city's as i say there are plenty more options other than jumping into that tv advert and risking loosing everything in one foul swop

if your really that stuck for a few quid ill put a card in my local sweet shop window for a week its only about a pound lol

but there are more ways of advertising and if the lower end advertising works then maybe one day you could afford that TV advert,
you have to start somewhere, and i believe the internet is eating itself up and not really any good for advertising anymore and word of mouth is no where near enough as people tell people and people forget as soon as they turn the next corner

Just my thoughts anyway, hope it may help at some point

    Good luck

    Vince & Anna

    P.s
im not sure if ive put this post in the correct place so admin please move if needed, Thank you

A very modest Google Adwords or display campaign would be effective.

I wish that people would read your excellent exposition of the advertising situation before posting threads about the lack of advertising.

the problem lies with even if there was a budget to advertise, and im not saying i know either way, what would you advertise? the site,ok so you bring in curious people maybe looking to buy, what happens if they dont find what they want, ? not very impressed i guess, remember a lot of the cats here are underpopulated, in other words there is not the stock to justify the cost, or risk,

we sell here by specific searches if not on ebid then via net searches which brings in buyers for a specific item , the result is the buyer does find what they want because they search for what they want, im not saying there are not browsers but the vast amount of buyers come in via searches on google ,be it generic or shopping,

the diversity on the site is increasing i have seen it vastly increase since joining up, but i dont belive the time is right to advertise in a large investment type campaign yet, these are my views only,

Its not were you sell its what you sell and how you sell.

BTW... If anyone is interested where I got my costings from, it is here: PDF

Current pricings seem hard to find (or don't exist). Due to the many variables all networks I looked at directed anyone wanting to advertise to contact them to work out a campaign and cost.

I think it should be taught in Primary schools.
