And indeed I do live beside the seaside!

I was born inland but have early treasured memories of my trips to the sea.

My first ride on a donkey on the beach ~ my first stick of Rock ~ my knitted bathing suit falling to my knees with the weight of the water.....

What are your early memories of the seaside?

Not my earliest memory of the seaside, but certainly one of the most memorable as a little girl, was riding on a bus along Blackpool promenade early one morning and seeing keepers from the Tower Circus exercising an elephant.

Being astonished by the tide coming in at Margate - it comes in all skew wiff

I remember getting lost on Margate beach as a small child. Someone found me and took me to the lifeguard's station, where they sent out a loudspeaker message across the beach, and I was eventually reconciled with my family.

I've always loved the water myself, spent and still spend every summer with my family on the St. Lawrence River, swimming, fishing and boating, my favorite pastimes.

I was born and brought up in a seaside town. Every summer the beaches were packed full of holiday makers and day trippers mostly from Glasgow. The water was foul, you often came face to face with poo! but despite that it was packed. It started tailing off by the late seventies and now the water is clean but there are few summer visitors

the hours of actually getting there , bus and train, being stung by something and taken into boots to be treated, the pleasure beach i think it was called, southport
