Trying not to die - seriously.

Please forgive me having a personal whinge; I know there are few reasons why you should care. However, I am currently in hospital trying not to die. I've been hit by a massive level of infection in my left leg.

The doctor said that if my other half hadn't got the ambulance last Monday, I wouldn't have needed one on Tuesday.

Docs are pumping me full of huge doses of antibiotics - three packs, fours times a day. As well as liberally slicing away big patches of infected tissue.I can't believe how fast the infection moved and how much damage it has caused. Or at how hard it is to get under control; I may still be in here for Christmas; they don't know yet. But I do know I won't be around much on the forum, so season's greetings to those who know me.

DAMIAN -DEARHEART!!! Oh you poor thing!! What a horrendous thing to have happen! I'm glad you are tough in spirit and determination, as that makes a huge difference in overcoming this.

Sending you healing thoughts and prayers. Don't wait till Christmas to let us know you are improving! You will make iti through this, I know.

I knew a guy who had this (or similar), and though it took awhile, and he ended up walking around with an antibiotic IV for awhile, he made it, just as you will.

Sorry to hear this Damian and hope it starts to improve very soon, how did it start, did you cut or damage your leg? Fingers crossed that you will be home for Christmas XX

I cam sympathise with you this happened to me 11 years ago my mother died and I went round the corner of hospital to Accident and Emergency and was admitted and kept there for a long time - initially it was touch and go but I am still here - I still have problems and have been hospitalised many times in last 11 years and my leg is huge. Please realise the hospital will do their best -they were wonderful here in Aberdeen - I wish you the very best of everything and I am sorry about your illness

I asked my fella to hop out and get me a bag of chips last October...a whole month after he had his whole left leg amputated.

He still hasn't done it....lazy miserable so and so

So, so sorry to hear that Damian. There was me whinging about having this flu type bug for ten days but I think you've got me beaten !!!
I do hope they can get it under control soon so you can enjoy Christmas at home. xxx
