    Moved on to Battambang

Includes some last shots of Siem Reap, the journey between & their new digs!

    Hello again.
Since our last post we have hit the road again for a four hour bus trip south west to Battambang. We have had a couple of walks around the local area since we arrived and like what we have seen (and eaten) so far.
Tomorrow we are doing a day tour via a special Tuk Tuk which consists of (what I think is) a Toyota Starlet cut-off with a normal-ish Tuk Tuk body grafted on the rear.
The Driver seems a bit wild so it should be interesting.
The photos associated with this post include some last minute bits of Siem Reap plus some of Battambang and in-between.
    Enjoy

    Difficult decisions in Siem Reap

Srey Toot the cat - European Guesthouse (means 'small girl' in Khmer)

Menu at Aspara Supermarket Siem Reap

Mordecai the Honda - has one loving owner?

Bro turns French every evening - with A Pastis De Marseille 'Aperitif Anise' pre dinner drinkypoos! It's a tough life etc.

Siem Reap night market - The troublesome patrons torture lounge!

SR market - deep fried spiders - like crunchy chicken says bro!

More on the agenda! L to R = Crickets, Grubs, & Baby Snakes - Yum!

Bottom shelf, 370ml Mekong Whiskey at $0.85. Bro is getting a guide dog when he's home!

Catching up on the news The Phnom Penh Post (better than our local says bro)

    Battambang - A day out & about!
    from Phum Rumcheck 4, Cambodia

Any place with Rumcheck in its name must be good in my book!

A busy day on the 25th with visits to:-
    a unique Bamboo Railway,
    a 'Heritage Listed' house,
a Temple pre-dating Angkor Wat and, lastly,
a collection of tranquil Temples on a mountain top which share their place with a stark reminder of the horrors of the Pol Pot regime.
This Country suffered so much whilst the 'civilized' West pretended not to notice.

Brekky (restaurant next door to hotel)

    Ditto

    Orchid at the hotel

Part of a passing funeral procession

    Statue of the original Battambang

Happy shopkeeper (after bro bought a Tee)

Our guide Borith (red cap) & his car/Tuk Tuk for the days outings

All this - & loud music to boot!

    A street vendor

    A mobile shop!

Out & about - The Bamboo Railway!

    What do we do now?

Easy - take it apart & put it on the side

Let traffic pass & re-assemble! (takes all of 15 seconds says bro)

End of the line is a brick factory

Inside the kiln with Borith (Boris by those with a lisp)

Looking up at the mortar free dome

On we go to visit a heritage Khmer house at Wat Kor village:

Out & About - Khmer Heritage house

    The rellies!

Demonstration how to clean teeth - Khmer style (complex says bro)

    A two stringed guitar-like instrument

Type of Pan flute (sounds beautiful)

    Household implements

    Heading into the back yard

    Going batty!

    Pomelo (Citrus maxima)

Orchid time - I'm drooling again!

    And on we go:

It's just amazing. How much longer is their trip? I am sure they will be sad to go home
