I think the general trend in UK politics at present is to lie yourself into a position of power, feather your own nest at the expense of the public, then slink off into the wings whilst frantically blaming everyone else. All you then have to do is get yourself onto the board of a multinational company while someone else ghost writes your autobiography and you wait for the UN to find you a nice cushy job that you only have to turn up to three time a year.

The first bit of pro EU propaganda landed on my doormat today, courtesy of the BetterIn campaign.

Would have been better if printed on softer paper and, ideally, perforated.

Good to know that such fine upstanding financial institutions have the UK’s best interests at heart and are trying to support a good debate.

Exactly the kind of people that the City of London, the fraud and money laundering capital of the world, loves to do business with.

Couldn’t possibly be anything to do with the fact that once the UK Government lobbying on their behalf within the EU ends upon Brexit that the EU would come down on these people like a ton of the proverbial bricks and regulate their fraudulent practices out of existence? Without the support of the UK Government resisting further regulation by the EU, the game would have been up within the EU for such institutions some time ago.

Just thought I'd drag this thread up from the depths to which it had sunk with some poll news. Probably boring, and uninteresting to most, but remarkable to those interested in UK politics and perhaps more so, UK regional politics.

Labour, according to one poll, are now actually in third place in polling for the Scottish Elections in May. Being beaten by the Tories. Who'da thunk it? Conservatives more popular than Labour in Scotland.

It'll be interesting to see if this is repeated in polls between now and May.

    Sample Size: 1022

    Constituency ballot :
    SNP: 50% (-1)
    Conservatives: 20% (+1)
    Labour: 19% (-2)

    Regional list ballot :
    SNP: 42% (-3)
    Conservatives: 20% (+1)
    Labour: 20% (n/c)

Shadow minister tells Corbyn to anticipate snap general election.

    http://www.theguardian.com/politics/...neral-election

Why would the government call an election only one year into its five year term just because Cameron goes? Or is continuing with a new leader only allowed when Labour does it?

The party was elected, not the leader.

    thats very easy to answer

because the PM has not only staked himself on the referendum , but a considerable amount of party and cabinet and ministers would stand by him, plus which no doubt is the real reason 3. ? years is a lot less time for a new PM than 5 years+ months which they would get if they called a G E straight away thats assuming they win, which is very unlikely so its hard to see the point of the artical , more spin no doubt

I do not begrudge anybody receiving a high salary if they have worked for it but this one does not feel right. There is an ethics issue about taking so much money from a charity. It makes you wonder what the inner values are. It hardly inspires confidence in our politicians. Makes the Westminster MPs’ expenses scandal seem a bit tame in comparison.
