Default YDC 129 Invitation (School Defibrillator)

    .

If you participated in any way in YDC 128, and your local (UK) School has not got a Defibrillator (& you would like to help them get one) then please post the name of your School and the number of Pupils/Students it has. The School with the largest number of Pupils/Students will be the chosen School. This way YDC 129 will achieve the maximum protection for the greatest amount of kids. (12 children a week actually die at School from an undiagnosed heart condition).

So, the Invitation is open as of now and will stay open for one week. By the end of next Monday we should know which School we will be raising money for!

Who's School will it be? Where will it be? and will it be yours?

It's a wonderful thought that our YDC efforts might just save a youngster's life....

    Penygloddfa Primary School, Newtown
    NEWTOWN
    Powys
    SY16 2HD

This is a primary school and has approx 273 pupils.

If we're allowed to nominate two schools:

    Newtown High School
    NEWTOWN
    Powys
    SY16 1JE

This is a secondary school and has approx 921 pupils

My younger son went to both these schools and is now a Design Engineer in Perth, WA.

Anyone can name any number of schools Annie.... at the end of the week it will be the School with the highest number of youngsters which will be our focus.
Should anything go wrong with the chosen School (eg they acquire a Defib in the meantime, or a mistake has been made & they already have a Defib, or they decide they don't want one) then the School with the next highest number will be given the opportunity.

It's the only way I can think of doing it

I understand fully where you're coming from with this moonie. Rural schools tend to have much fewer numbers and the "best" (from our point of view) risk is awful to try & evaluate - much fewer numbers but at greater risk due to distance or vast numbers of kids in a higher populated area (where ambulances might also struggle to get there within the necessary time frame.) I opted for the greater numbers in the end....

There are also much smaller Schools with physically challenged youngsters who may be at even greater risk yet again.... it really is a difficult one to call.

If I ever have the chance to do this again maybe we could go for the "furthest distance from a Hospital" School. Better still, we could put it to the Forum to decide the criteria for nomination?

I think what you're doing is wonderful, no matter how you select the schools. You truly are an angel, albeit with webbed feet, LOL.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

    .

Has anyone any more Schools to put forward for the Defib opportunity?

Should anything go wrong with any of the Schools nominated so far (eg they acquire a Defib in the meantime, or a mistake has been made & they already have a Defib, or they decide they don't want one) then the School with the next highest number will be given the opportunity.

So even if your School has fewer numbers than those offered so far it doesn't mean it isn't in with a chance.
