And today's report.... I feel like some kind of stalker lol.
I have to say it wasn't too bad at all. Appointment at 11.30 but they got cracking at 11.50.
It was pretty much like the TV adverts, half a dozen EazyBoy chairs with each one set up like a mini ITU.
The first drip up was the anti-emetic(sp) and even while that one was going through, I was offered lunch and a cuppa.
Minestrone soup and a choice of sandwiches, biscuits et al
Second drip was the serious stuff for an hour and 20 minutes, quickly followed by a "flush through" saline.
Then another chemo drip (another 1.20 hrs) ... and toe curling numb bum syndrome was setting in here!
Another cuppa, then a final "flush through".
I think if i'd been lying flat I would have probably slept all the way through the whole thing .... maybe next time.
I now have the pleasure of oral chemo at home for the next two days .... and apparently it's absolutely mingin'! (watch this space). Recommended to take with a really strong juice, just to get rid of the taste. ewwwwwwwww!!
Lots more anti-emetics and steroids too.
The biggest issue seems to be infection control. From now onwards my immune system is busy being killed off as well. No bone marrow = no fight. So, it's disinfectants & virucidals at the ready, anyone with even a cold has to stay away and i'm not allowed anywhere near any of our animals, stables etc.
Once again, the nurses were absolutely brilliant ..... one in particular very rarely left my side the whole way through.
On another plus side, I have been internet shopping .... got some wig caps (from TOS) I will point out his error and head him our way when I have checked the quality of the product. I was also going to treat myself to a Liberty Scarf or two but nearly choked on the price! I can't see me wearing these turban doodahs ... not my style. But a bandana .... hell yeah!!

Good to hear you coped so well with the first session Vonz. At least you will know what to expect next time. Keep that battle going.
