Thread: Our Newest Addition

    Default Our Newest Addition

I would like to introduce Benji, the newest member of our family...

Benji is a 14 week old Kakariki, a type of Parakeet originally from New Zealand.

He's only been here half a day but has settled in fine so far! He is happily eating, bathing, chirping away and even "stepping up" onto our fingers. He's very friendly and in a day or two think we will let him out the cage for the first time if he stays this settled!

Brightly coloured, and cute too, though difficult to see from photo.

What other pets do you have Ash?

Oh how lovely, ours is a cockatiel and is a nasty, scruffy, messy and noisy little sod, but we love him

Will get more/better pics when he's out and about in the next couple of days! He's been great this morning, steps straight onto fingers when they're there and was happily sat on my hand for the first time.

He's the only pet at the min, we've been considering for weeks what to get, been to 5/6 different pet stores throughout the Northwest and done lots of looking up on the net and it was looking like a tropical fish tank but when we went to a store in Manchester yesterday and saw him, we sort of knew straight away.

We had a boxer dog but a few years ago he went to live with his Dad on a farm

Look forward to more photos of Benji

I had a cockatiel for a couple of hours many years ago. I'd got new cage, toys, food etc all she needed. My friend's dad bred them, she brought a baby cockatiel to my house while my brother was visiting. That bird hated me, when I put my finger near her she tried to peck me, when my brother tried, she went on his finger, no problem, the 2 of them bonded so my brother took the bird, cage etc home with him, no idea what he wife said when he arrived home with the cockatiel. He named her Jenny and had her for many years.

Cocktails are not very big country, you may be thinking of a cockatoo.
Emily, our who is called toots amongst other things is exactly the same with me, if i but my hand in the cage it runs at me with open beak, it also spits in my face if I go near the cage, but he loves Mike, if mike puts his face one the cage toots will pluck his eyebrows out on at a time, he also rushes to the side of the cage to chatter to mike, he try's to draw him to the cage my doing phone sounds as well.
