    I thought at first maybe it was because there are a lot of folks on this side of the pond who haven't heard of eBid, but considering the Telegraph is a UK paper, that really doesn't make sense, as I've always thought eBid was better known in the UK.

    I hadn't heard of any of those alternative sites except Gumtree and Etsy and I've never been on Gumtree.

    And as Gumtree is owned by eBay it is hardly a site to recommend to those who are not happy with eBay.
