Default Well, that idea didn't work!

Daft idea maybe, but thought i'd experiment using eBid as a marketing tool to bring buyers to our bricks & mortar premises.

Horse feed is bulky and generally weighs around 20kg per sack ...... so list it on eBid for Collection Only!

My ideas are that eBid still gets the final value fees and we get another customer crossing our threshold to collect (and hopefully buy more - i'll be honest about it).

I've only listed a few fast selling feeds to road test the idea .... still got a couple of hundred more to go ...... but it's gone sadly wrong.

I've had a few sales ....... but from all over the flamin' country!! Kent, Glasgow etc.
Now who in their right mind is going to post a 20kg bag for free????????

Any ideas on how to improve the listing technique?
Before I scrap this idea completely.

I don't think it helps that eBid add 'Free' and 'Free Shipping' after 'Collection Only', particularly in a heavier type, on the listing. People see what they want to see and their eyes glass over after seeing the word 'Free'.

I'm pretty sure this cause of confusion has been raised before (maybe even by me) but it has never been addressed by eBid.

Maybe you could raise it with them directly as you have an actual example of the problems it causes.

If you were to choose unknown for shipping, doesn't it show as c desc?

And your description does indicate collection only.

    Just a thought.

You could try putting 'Collection from *your postcode*' in the listing title.

I agree with Astral the first thing that struck me when I looked at it was that the 'free shipping' wording from eBid was causing the confusion. It should be 'Collection only' and nothing more.

I thought the same Becky, it states Free shipping and it isn't. Never noticed it before.

There is a Collection in Person option in the shipping menu

That's what we are on about. eBid still goes on about shipping even if you select that option and confuses the buyer.

I have one item that's **Collection Only** - and have just added those words to listing title.

It's also mentioned in the description at least 3 times

Will make no difference. Once the user sees the words 'Free Shipping' they will pay no attention to anything that might contradict that.
