    Thumbs up Electoral Reform Petition

For anyone who thinks the First Past The Post (FPTP) electoral system is no longer working in modern multi-party politics there is a petition being run at http://www.electoral-reform.org.uk/ calling for electoral reform.

If you feel your vote was not recognised by the current FPTP system, feel you had to vote tactically rather than for your preferred candidate, or simply agree that FPTP is no longer fit for purpose, then add your name: HERE

Given the alternative under the current system... definitely YES!

FPTP has long meant unrepresentative government but I think this last election has brought it into sharp focus. Those who control it are also those who benefit from it so I can't see them having an appetite for change. The best you can hope for is another loaded referendum whose result will always be what the politicians want it to be.

We've already had this argument, when the Great British Public turned down AV with a resounding crash.

I like FPP - it keeps the wierdos out.

Of course they did, and the politicians knew that they would. That is why it was the only option offered and the politicians refused to put PR as an option on the paper. AV actually has the potential to make government less representative than FPTP.
