Thread: Supermarkets

Ya know, now that i thought about it ...
Addy and i are close enough that we might both shop at a Wagman's, or Tops, or Star, or Price-Rite.
We probably have the same chains in common for just about ANY type of store.

    What about Aldis?
They're German, yet we have 2 local branches.
And Wal-Mart is adding grocerys to many of their stores. (i know of 4 on my local bus routes)
(3 suspiciously next to a Wagmans)
I suspect you have local Aldis and Wal-Marts in the UK and Oz, Yes? No?
We might ALL have them in common.

    Ain't globalization scary? Mr.reddevil.

There are Aldis here, too, they're OK but I miss Wegmans, I used to work there a million years ago and they had the best deli/bakery, (OK, I worked in the bakery, so I'm definitely prejudiced).

Best wishes for many sales to all,

Rest easy! Some of us realised!

My late wife used to teach what was known as Domestic Science/Cookery...in latter years it became food technology! Anyway, on one occasion she had asked a class what mum did to save at the Supermarket. The poor innocent was expecting things like buying larger sizes or buying in bulk, etc. However, one young lad said brightly:"My mum gets us all a pie at the Hot Food Counter, and as we have eaten it by the time we get to the checkout she never pays for them!"

I reassured her with the thought that this was the child's perception of what was happening, and mother may very well have paid for the food anyway.

LMAO! Reminds me of a story my Mom tells about when my brother was little, they were waiting in a supermarket checkout line and my 2 year old brother turned to a large woman in line and out of the blue asked her, 'why are you so fat?' My Mom apologized to the woman and told my brother it was inappropriate to ask personal questions of strangers, fortunately he never did this again.

Kids do say the darndest things...

Best wishes for many sales to all,

I was a bit surprised to see this just down the road from where my BiL now lives, on the southern tip of Africa:

I never knew they were that widespread.
