I am under three specialists at the Hospital One for my Heart One for my gout and one for Urology. Now I have seen both the heart and gout specialists in the past week and BOTH have said I should be on a blood pressure drug. So I go to my GP to get it and he won't give it to me.

Could be that your GP practice has their own budget and would rather prescribe a cheaper drug?

High Blood Pressure is the catch-all medical problem now.
It is a sypmtom of, or contributes to, everything else.
And it's all just statistical.
Us folks with high BP suffer more from (whatever) than folks with adverage BP.
No promise that lowering BP will cure you. Just that it MIGHT extend yer lifespan.

Last year a blood-sucking dentist refused to pull my tooth, till i got my BP down.
Looked at me like i was gonna EXPLODE in her chair.
That took 6 months.
Then she conned me into doing lots of other work for 3 months.
Took 9 months to get a rotten tooth pulled.
This is why my teeth are so bad, can't trust the dentists.

I find the medical system to be confusing at times.

I've have had ocular migraines for years. Just recently I mentioned to my long time doctor that I was having migraine auras. He didn't ask me about symptoms, frequency, or anything. Right away his response was to ask me if I wanted a prescription for blood pressure meds and beta blockers. My BP and heart are doing OK so far and I don't have high BP. But then a person only gets 10 minutes with the doctor and he spends about 8 of the 10 fiddling on the computer trying to figure out who the patient is.

And, we actually consider our doctor to be one of the better ones we've met.

This exactly. I'm just glad Winston has a good vet.

Do your docs talk to each other? If they don't, that could be the problem. You might want to tell your GP to get in touch with the others.
