Default There must be an easier way....

When I fit a duvet cover to a duvet I always feel like I have gone a couple of rounds with Mike Tyson. It should be such a simple job.

Has anyone got any tips that make the job easier?

Getting married so that the wife can do it is not an acceptable option.

    .

Feed the top end of the duvet into the cover & place clothes pegs all along the top edge to keep both duvet & cover where you want them ~ shake from top downwards & gently ease the cover down the duvet. (cuts the rounds with Mike Tyson by at least half if not more! )

That's, basically, what I do now. Though I only peg each of the four corners. It still seems one hell of a fight though.

I've also tried the turning the cover inside-out, grasping the top corners and shaking the cover down. Not much joy with that.

I don't think that the opening not being the full width helps. A zip would also be better than the press-studs.

Sew tapes to the inside corners of the cover and also sew tapes to the corners of the quilt, turn cover inside out and tie together, if this does not work yank it back off, throw it all round the bed room, stamp on it and then just get in bed without the sodding cover on.

I have a tip for her though... Keep the stinking cat vermin out of the bedroom and she won't have to change the cover due to cat hairs.

What is a duvet? Never heard of it before. Is that a British term? Been living in America for all my life and I've never heard of that word.

I believe it is what you would call a 'comforter'

I have one on my down comforter. I didn't know why the cover I bought was labelled a "duvat cover" --- I thought "quilt cover" or "comforter cover" would make more sense. Now I know.

We used to have continental quilts until the 60's and then Sir Terence Conran (founder of Habitat) discovered duvets being used in Sweden and became the first to sell duvets in Britain in 1964.
