Will go well with some big dollops of Laddies Ice Cream.

Ahhh... memories of my childhood on my uncle's farm.

What are you planning to do with them all? That would make a lot of ice cream and smoothies

I have had to freeze most of them, although we did kind of pig-out on them
There will be more to crop soon and add to the freezer.

We sometimes make jam, smoothies or eat them just as they are, or mixed with raspberries and other fruit.

I'm going to replace my blackcurrant bushes with a better variety soon, so there will be an extra flavour in the mix. I also want to grow blueberries, but they need an acid soil.

I never eat strawberries & cream, because its too much fat. We have them with Ice-cream sometimes though. Strawberries, blackcurrants, raspberries, bananas and apples are our favourites for a fruit salad. Oh and peaches when they are in season.

    I've never tried freezing strawberries.

I had some nice strawberries from my local greengrocer called Sweet Supreme. I kept a few to grow the seeds.

You must have a lot of plants!

Yes we have quite a few and there will be even more next year, because its time to transplant to fresh ground. I take the 'runners' (side growth) and plant them into new rows. This refreshes the stock and you get fewer strawberries the next year but they have bigger fruit.

Freezing makes them collapse structurally, but they still taste great and you can still use them to make jam if needed.

Laddies, sounds like the Thayers Ice Cream we use to get in South Wales while I was at the Poly of Wales. Made from real cream, real ice cream as it should taste - very rich and totally off limits these days (cholesterol wise).

Laddies ice cream is local to you. I know they had a shop in Holbeach the last time I was there. They may have other outlets - maybe even one in Spalding.

    Luvverly stuff.
