Default Bulk Edit - No Change Possible

I have been trying to do a bulk edit on a standard description in most of my listings. I am trying to change a width and height dimension in html in the description area.

It keeps coming back Attempted - No Change Possible

Is there something happening on the website this afternoon which is preventing change at the moment?

AFAIAA... You cannot edit a listing that has bids, or a multi-item listing that has had any sales.

If neither of those are the case then, if you are doing a Replace, the string you enter must match exactly the HTML in the listing source. Two ways you can get this wrong is if the search string you enter is split over two lines in the source, or there is extra whitespace (spaces, tabs, etc.) in the listing source - browsers collapse multiple spaces to a single space when displayed. The best thing to do is to view the source of an active listing. How you do that is browser dependant. Firefox: highlight the section of text you are interested in, right click, click on View Selected Source. Then copy and paste the string from the source into the Replace search string input field.

Yes, just about got to the point of realising that there is some extra space in the section I want to replace.

The solution for me is reverse engineering.
Download my entire inventory of 17000 listings, and reconstruct my spreadsheet by splitting and splicing columns, make corrections in Excel and reload.

Should keep me occupied while it is raining this week.

Just enter the extra spaces in the Replace search box. As long as you enter exactly what is in the source then Bulk Edit will work.

Well, no, entering exactly what is in the source didn't work. Copy and Paste didn't do the trick.

However it is simple if tedious for me to export everything into a spreadsheet, do all the changes, and import again.
