Default No wonder people are unable to buy things on eBid!!

I have just tried to bid on a lovely pair of trainers. I submitted my bid with 30 seconds to go, hit the confirm button, only to be told that the auction had finished. The system returned me to the bidding screen, so I re-submitted the bid (the clock was still counting down) only to be told again that the auction was finished. Again, back to the bidding screen where I helplessly watched the clock count down to zero!

Unfortunate for the seller as they would have obtained a better price, unfortunate for me because I lost out and, I do have to question, whether unfortunate for other sellers who may be losing out in this way. Apologies if it is my ignorance that you cannot bid inside the last minute of an auction but I thought that was when the real action normally took place??

Has anyone else had the same trouble??

    Thanks for reading my ramblings!!

Best wishes to all fellow buyers and sellers.

I would contact support and see what they have to say.

The system may have done you a favour though, that was probably a listing that you really didn't want to win for a number of reasons. If I had seen the listing before then I would have asked support to check the seller out.

That's awful Nibor75. I bid during the last 10 seconds on TOS!

Thanks for the info Mel - I have learnt something (your guide really is brilliant). I will certainly bear that in mind in future. Perhaps I am guilty of being used to bidding "on the other side" (I know, shame on me!). It will teach me not to put bids in at the last minute! Stick to "buy it now" in future!

    Thanks again

But bidding is fun and it's all about the last few seconds. Maybe they'll fix this in the update.

Thanks for your thoughts. Perhaps if something looks too good to be true, it probably is! Let us just hope that the winner gets what they are expecting! A shame if not as it will be giving eBid a bad name which is something all the genuine sellers are desperate to avoid. A case of buyer beware!

Well... it hasn't been fixed in the 7 years I have been here. As I doubt that eBid introduced 'the feature' just for me then it must have existed even longer. Which gives me little hope of it being fixed.

Perhaps it will be part of the re-design? - We will wait and see!!

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and contributions - it has found us all something to do on a wet Monday evening!!
