It is probably just me but when I enter username it does not take me to that person and when I tried to do it as a store name it didn't work either. They ask me a question so I know they are active. What am I missing?

Hi youmeus, I presume they asked via the ebid site system?
If so, you should be able to answer them thru the Q&A tab on your "My Ebid Dashboard."

When searching for a user use u:username
When searching for a store use s:storename

no space between the colan and the name

On eBid home page at top near your user name & feedback score.
Type in the search bar, the user or store name you're after, & select from the drop down list.

What browser you are using can make a difference
