    Default Free Postage

Something that has been Bugging me for some time is Free Postage. There is no such thing as Free Postage, it is inc in the price of the item. Items used to be advertised with Including Postage in the description. Which to me is Correct.

Technically it's correct, but when you say free shipping in the item description, it helps selling. No need to explain that it's included in the price

No such as free postage as every courier would be out of business

One problem is that when potential buyers look at items it makes prices look high and can lead to the thought that eBid is expensive, It also creates problems with multople purchases. I would prefer if it were not allowed.

Some buyers will search for the free shipping, not sure if this is an option here on eBid but it is on feebay. I have a history of my items sold with free shipping while identical items were available with $$ shipping + the total cost was less. Some buyers will rather go for a free shipping rather than doing a math. Besides, not all buyers will shop around; some will grab an item if this is what they're looking for.

Not all buyers think alike. I've sold a vintage bottle that I advertised on a local Facebook page, in the next day it boom, sold, and the buyer didn't shop around as my price wasn't competitive. It was sold on Etsy. The buyer was from the same county as I am so I don't think it was a coincidence. Advertising on Facebook sometimes sells.

I don't see any problem with multiple purchases offered with free shipping. If you build your shipping into the price, it'll work. I don't think it will ever be disallowed, just doesn't make sense.

Some buyers just love free shipping

Your point well taken, however it's for us sellers, while for the buyers it's Free Shipping. It's a selling tool

There used to be a fairly common term merchants used, which you don't see very often, anymore... "The item costs £17, postpaid." Another way of saying "all included."

Consumers-- especially here in the US, not sure about the UK-- have become super tuned in to the word "free" in recent years.

    Cheers,
    Peter
