    Question Taking the Pee

Had a buyer with a VGC reputation buy a watch from me about 2 Years ago. This watch turned out to be faulty and he saw another I had listed and asked for that as a replacement. This I sent. NOW Jan 2016 I get a letter with this replacement watch returned to me saying I should get a better supplier as this was a present and had only just been given back to him as they we're too embarrassed to return it to him. Also stating that the watch "had gone faulty" in the late summer. NOW I have put a New battery in it and there is Nothing wrong with it! At first I was tempted to return the watch to this effect but then Thought about it Hang on Late Summer...........the Customer returning it now and would have a Free Battery replacement. Hmmmmmmmmm The letter was very nicely written as an "Advise" to get a new supplier but .............Well What would you do? I'm all for keeping the customer happy............

Their story is plausible & I would let them have a free complimentary battery (but only once)
Seems a lot of trouble to go to just to scam a battery?
Ask yourself - how much it it going to cost & is the client worth keeping?
Chalk it up to good will & avoiding possible neg feedback or complaint.
    That's what I would do.

did he return the original watch before you sent the replacement , if hes returning the replacement after two years and upon your investigation it only needed a battery , which again could be two years after you sent it , then i would say hes expecting some thing for nothing , a mild scam at best a brain washed feebay buyer

He has sent the watch back because the battery ran out, sorry but I would not be so polite, if he is too stupid to put a battery in he does not deserve to have a watch, send it back with the new battery and tell him he will need to replace it next time it stops. I would possibly explain it better than i have put it though

You also have to remember to have a battery replaced in most Shops will cost £3-5 depending on where you live.

Send the watch back with a new battery and an invoice then.

Don't forget there are some "daisies" in this world! Some years ago, I was visiting a cousin in rural Wales. He happened to mention that he could receive only BBC1 on his TV. I opened the Remote Control to check which battery type it took and, luckily, had some spares in my car.I replaced the two batteries, and of course the RC was now working. He was very pleased - he had not realised there were batteries in the device.

I gave him another pair as spares. He then looked worried - "But how will I know when to change them again?" he asked...This was a graduate with a double first!

In his defence, I should add he was a Benedictine on sabbatical leave, De mortuis, nil nisi bonum.

The customer has returned the watch, trusting that you will "fix" it. I'd return it with the new battery inserted and attach an invoice for the battery and postage costs, trusting him/her to do the decent thing.
